Brodnica
Poland
Founded by the Teutonic Order in the Middle Ages, Brodnica is a former royal town in northern Poland with a compact, walkable centre sitting on the water and dense with Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical heritage. Medieval towers, gates, and churches line the historic market squares, and the town is home to the oldest continuously operating Polish bank. A Polish victory over Russian forces here in 1920 adds a further layer to its history.
