A lakeside town in northern Poland's Warmian-Masurian region, Iława sits on Jeziorak, the longest lake in Poland, with a compact centre of cafés and restaurants and scenic water views throughout. The town hosts the Old Jazz Meeting "Złota Tarka," claimed to be the oldest traditional jazz festival in Europe, and is the starting point for a waterway route to the Baltic Sea via the historic Elbląg Canal. Lake Silm nearby holds one of the world's few training centres where maritime captains and port pilots practise on miniaturised ship models.
