Castelmola

Tiny hilltop village above Taormina on Sicily's east coast, Castelmola occupies the site of ancient Taormina's acropolis and is listed among Italy's most beautiful villages. Its elevated position offers multiple scenic viewpoints over the surrounding mountains and coastline, and it draws a café and restaurant scene unusually lively for a settlement its size. An annual rock music festival fills the main square each 1 May.
