Charagua
Bolivia
Charagua, also known as Charagua Iyambae, became the first Bolivian municipality to establish indigenous self-governance in 2015, a milestone for the Guaraní people who make up the majority of its population and whose language is widely spoken here. Set in the Chaco region of Santa Cruz department, the town is the principal settlement of Cordillera province and also holds the distinction of being Bolivia's largest territorial entity by area.
