Dsegh, in Armenia's Lori Province, is the birthplace of the celebrated Armenian poet Hovhannes Tumanyan, after whom the village was named from 1938 to 1969. Set on a forested peninsula above the Debed River, it holds two early medieval churches — one from the 7th century, one from the 8th — alongside a medieval cemetery with khachkars. The wider Lori region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
