Écija

Baroque bell towers define the skyline of this Andalusian town on the Genil river, east of Seville, earning it the popular nickname "City of Towers." The walkable centre is dense with historic churches and cafés, and the surrounding countryside — olives, cereals, cattle country — gives the town its agricultural character. Écija's summer heat has also earned it another local nickname: "the Frying Pan of Andalusia."
