El Progreso
Honduras
This highway crossroads city in Honduras's Valle de Sula, El Progreso sits where routes branch toward Tela, La Ceiba, Tegucigalpa, and Copán Ruinas, making it a practical base for moving through the country. The Ulúa River, one of Honduras's largest, passes through the city, and the Mico Quemado mountain range rises to the east. Known locally as the Pearl of the Ulúa, it is one of Honduras's most commercially active cities and the most significant urban centre in the Yoro department.
