San Pedro Sula
Honduras
Founded on 27 June 1536 by the Spanish conquistador Pedro de Alvarado, San Pedro Sula is Honduras's primary industrial centre and the largest city in Central America that is not a national capital. The city sits in the fertile Sula Valley, flanked by the Sierra del Omoa mountains, with the Caribbean coast a short distance to the north. Its walkable centre has a solid range of cafés and restaurants, and the city serves as a practical base for reaching other parts of the country.
