Gernrode is a little town on the northeastern edge of the Harz mountains in Saxony-Anhalt, best known for the Ottonian church of Saint Cyriakus — a collegiate church of a former imperial chapter of nuns — and as the starting point of the narrow-gauge Selke Valley Railway.
