Glarus
Switzerland
Sitting on the river Linth between the Glärnisch and Schilt mountain ranges, Glarus is the modest cantonal capital of the Swiss canton of Glarus, with a café and restaurant scene that punches above its size. The town was largely rebuilt after a fire in 1861, leaving its neo-Romanesque city church as the dominant landmark; almost nothing from before that date survives. The wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
