Maghaghah
Egypt
A Nile-side city on the west bank of the river in Egypt's Minya Governorate, Maghaghah is known for cotton ginning, onion processing, and the agricultural plains — planted with maize and wheat — that surround it. The city is also the birthplace of Taha Hussein, the celebrated figure of Arabic literature, who has a street named after him here, as well as the footballer Ahmed Hassan and the popular singer Hakim.
