Ohrid
Југозападен · North Macedonia
Sitting on the shore of Lake Ohrid in southwestern North Macedonia, with high mountains rising behind it, this town holds a dual UNESCO World Heritage designation — both cultural and natural — awarded in 1979 and 1980. It was once said to have 365 churches, one for each day of the year, earning it the name "Jerusalem of the Balkans." A walkable centre with a dense food-and-drink scene and scenic viewpoints over the lake round out the offer.
