This little coastal parish on the northern shore of Faial in the Azores, Praia do Norte sits between the villages of Cedros and Capelo within the Capelo volcanic complex. Its high sea cliffs are recognised as geological monuments of scientific interest, and a coastal fajã — a flat shelf of land formed by lava or landslide — faces the Baía da Ribeira das Cabras. The wider Azores region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites.
