This town in Argentina's Misiones Province surrounded by an unusual concentration of protected natural areas, including the Araucaria Provincial Park — created to safeguard the locally called cury, a native pine species protected under Argentine law — along with the Moconá Provincial Park, the Yabotí Biosphere Reserve, and several other reserves. The Esmeralda Provincial Park, established in 1997, also falls within the municipality. Ruta Nacional 14 connects San Pedro to the rest of the province.
