Tiny town in Turkey's Aegean region, Selendi sits alongside the Selendi Stream — a major tributary of the Gediz River that carries more water than the Gediz itself in winter. The district occupies the site of the ancient settlement of Silandus, and local points of interest include the Kınık picnic area and the Gavur Evleri rock tombs. The area is known for its American-type tobacco, as well as traditional foods including tarhana, höşmerim, keşkek, and yufka.
