Semarang

Large port city on Java's north coast, Semarang is the capital of Central Java and carries a substantial legacy of Dutch colonial architecture alongside a lively Chinatown and dense kampung neighbourhoods. The central area has a strong café and restaurant scene and a concentration of historic churches from the colonial era. Named the cleanest tourist destination in Southeast Asia by the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard for 2020–2022, it also sits within reach of the mountains to the south.
