A small village on the slopes of Mount Bistra near Gostivar, Vrutok is known as the source of the Vardar river, home to a hydroelectric plant, and the place where golden trout — and later silver trout — were first bred. Specialised fish restaurants have grown up around the springs, and the area is considered to have strong potential for ecological tourism.
