Wellsford
New Zealand
A pocket-sized highway town on the Northland Peninsula where State Highways 1 and 16 meet, Wellsford sits near the Kaipara Harbour and offers a modest café and restaurant scene alongside several historic churches for a village its size. Founded in 1862 by Baptist settlers from the Birmingham area, it grew through timber, kauri gum, and dairy farming, and today serves as a practical stop roughly halfway between Auckland and Whangārei.
