A ferry port on the southern shore of the Sea of Marmara in northwestern Türkiye, Yalova is best known as the gateway to the geothermal spa resort at nearby Termal, a popular retreat for visitors from Istanbul. Regular ferries cross the Marmara to Istanbul, making the town an easy day trip or stopover. The Samanlı Mountains rise to the south, and the centre has a walkable waterfront with cafés and restaurants.
