Ziębice, in Lower Silesia in south-western Poland, holds a preserved medieval Old Town centred on a Market Square and the Romanesque-Gothic Saint George Basilica, designated a Historic Monument of Poland. The town served as the seat of a Piast dynasty branch from 1322 to 1521, and its Museum of the Silesian Home holds a collection of household objects, Silesian art and craft, and works by the local painter and collector Joseph Langer. The wider region sits close to mountains and near UNESCO World Heritage sites.
