Alaverdi
Armenia
Ringed by historic churches and set deep in the Debed river gorge in northeastern Armenia, Alaverdi is a small industrial and commercial town near the Georgian border. The gorge terrain gives the town a dramatic setting, and the wider Lori Province region holds several UNESCO World Heritage sites. A modest central core offers cafés and restaurants, and the town sits on the only direct rail link between Armenia and Georgia.
