Known as "the city of bridges" for the ravines that cut through its terrain and shaped its urban layout, Alcoy is an industrial town in Alicante province with a walkable centre full of cafés, historic churches, and listed buildings. The Serpis river crosses the municipality, and the surrounding landscape offers scenic viewpoints. Historically significant in Spain's Industrial Revolution, particularly in textiles, metalwork, and paper manufacturing, the town also serves as the capital of the Hoya de Alcoy comarca.
