Föglö
Åland Islands
Degerby, the centre of this island-group municipality in Åland, is widely considered one of the most beautiful villages in the archipelago province, known for its large, colourful wooden houses. Föglö itself carries one of the oldest known place names in present-day Finland and served as the centre of the Åland archipelago for centuries, with a long seafaring tradition. The municipality is reachable only by ferry, connecting to Mariehamn and mainland Finland.
