A compact trading town in southern Poland's Lesser Poland region, Kęty sits in the Soła river valley at the foot of the Beskid Małe mountains, with a historic urban layout listed in the regional heritage register. The town received its municipal charter before 1267 and served as a royal town in the Kraków Voivodeship by the late 16th century. Its centre holds a concentration of cafés and restaurants, and the wider region is ringed by UNESCO World Heritage sites.
