Metsavan
Armenia
This mountain village in Armenia's Lori Province sits high above sea level in the Tashir region, surrounded on the north and east by the Virahayots mountains and on the west by the Javakheti range, with the Tashir river — a tributary of the Debed — running along its southern edge. Formerly known as Shahazar, a name meaning "worthy of the king's gaze," it borders Georgia to the north and ranks among the largest villages in Armenia by population.
