Founded in 1923 in Israel's southern Sharon region, Ramat HaSharon is a town in the Tel Aviv District that spent decades resisting city status in favour of a more suburban character — a quality still visible in its agricultural fringes, where strawberries, the town's unofficial symbol, are grown alongside vegetable fields. It gained official city status in 2002. Neighbouring Tel Aviv to the south and Herzliya to the north, it sits within easy reach of the wider coastal metropolitan area.
