Saidu Sharīf

Pakistan

Saidu Sharif, the capital of Pakistan's Swat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, holds the Swat Museum, the mausoleum of the spiritual leader Saidu Baba, the royal palace of the former Wali-e-Swat, and the archaeological remains of the Butkara Buddhist Stupa. The city sits in mountain terrain with hills on three sides, a stream running to the west, and roads fanning out across the Swat Valley. It shares an effectively continuous urban area with the neighbouring city of Mingora.
