Yucay
Peru
A small town in Peru's Sacred Valley of the Incas, Yucay sits at high elevation along the Urubamba River, surrounded by Inca agricultural terraces on the hillsides. Its historic centre was declared a national heritage site in 1991. The town itself is quiet, but it serves as a practical base for day trips to the salt mines at Maras, the Inca terraces at Moray, and Ollantaytambo, from which trains run to Machu Picchu.
