Al Mazghunah
Egypt
Two unfinished 12th Dynasty mudbrick pyramids stand at Mazghuna, a village in Egypt's Giza Governorate south of Dahshur. Excavated by Flinders Petrie in 1911, the pyramids have been tentatively linked to Amenemhat IV and Sobekneferu, though no conclusive evidence confirms either attribution. Both structures were abandoned before completion: the southern pyramid contains a quartzite monolithic burial vault similar to the one at Hawara, while the northern pyramid's superstructure was never even begun, leaving a 38-tonne quartzite slab unused beside the burial chamber.
