Alftanes

This small Icelandic peninsula village on the Reykjanes coast is home to Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland, set against a backdrop of mountains and open water. Once its own municipality, Álftanes — whose name means "swan peninsula" — was merged into the neighboring municipality of Garðabær in 2013.
